The field-proven reliability and robustness of many mechanical cryocoolers has improved to a point where many cost-sensitive space missions are now using these commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) units for flight.
In this presentation, we will present cryocooler models that Thales Cryogenics is delivering for these types of missions. Both the Thales LPT series of pulse-tube coolers and specific models in the LSF series of Stirling Cold Finger coolers will be presented.
The additional tests and justifications that can be offered for cost-effective validation of flight hardware will be described. Furthermore, specific applications of the LPT9510, LPT9310 and LSF9997 cryocoolers are presented.
