Danny Tham brings over 25 years of experience in satellite communications, throughout which he has witnessed first hand the key phases in the evolution of the satellite industry. His career spans the boom and bust cycle of NGSO satellite broadband in the late 1990s, the peak years of satellite pay TV, and today’s renewed convergence between satellite and mobile communications driven by new technologies and services. He currently heads the Uncoordinated Space Systems Division within the Space Services Department of the ITU Radiocommunication Bureau, responsible for satellite systems primarily associated with scientific services and emerging space applications. He has deep expertise in satellite coordination and the practical application of the ITU Radio Regulations, and is extensively involved in World Radiocommunication Conferences and in delivering technical assistance and capacity building activities to ITU Members worldwide.
