Dr Adam Baker, Visiting Fellow, Cranfield University; Royal Academy of Engineering visiting Professor at Sheffield University; Head of Project Engineering, Magdrive

Dr Adam Baker has almost 30 years of experience in the space industry, with a career covering spacecraft propulsion, small spacecraft, launch services and related technologies. He has an MEng in materials engineering and a PhD in aerospace composite materials from Oxford University; and is a graduate of the International Space University. Dr Baker worked in both industrial and academic capacities for a range of entities across the UK, including QinetiQ, Virgin Galactic, Surrey Satellite Technologies Ltd and Kingston University London. He has also consulted widely within the UK Space industry in areas of launch and propulsion and is a visiting fellow at Cranfield University and a Royal Academy of Engineering visiting Professor at Sheffield University. He is a qualified teacher in UK higher education. He represents small companies on the UK Space Agency’s Space Technology Advisory Committee and co-founded the UK’s space propulsion industry-academia-government working group. Dr Baker is also working with Magdrive since 2020, co-developing next generation propulsion technologies to improve UK competitiveness in the global market. He is the Head of Project Engineering, responsible for multiple research & development projects in support of production flight systems.
