Aubrey Dunne is Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Ubotica Technologies, a Space:AI company with headquarters in Dublin, Ireland. Aubrey leads Ubotica’s Space and Edge AI engineering activities, as part of which he manages technical planning across the 50-strong Ubotica engineering team, leads architecting of systems solutions in the ground and Space segments, guides development of Ubotica’s Live Maritime Intelligence solution (for Maritime Situational Awareness), and drives the ideation process. He led the Ubotica team that in 2020 successfully delivered the AI solution enabling the world’s first AI inference on-board an EO CubeSat, and drove the successful design and deployment of CogniSAT-6, Ubotica’s AI-centric hyperspectral CubeSat (launched 2024). He was also instrumental in the first ever successful deployment of Dynamic Targeting, which Ubotica achieved in collaboration with NASA JPL in July 2025. Prior to his role in Ubotica, Aubrey gained almost 10 years of professional engineering consultancy experience, with companies including Intel and Movidius, in the core areas of computer vision and embedded systems design. Aubrey holds a Ph.D. in Computer Vision, an M.Eng. in Electronic Systems, and a B.Eng. in Mechatronic Engineering, all from Dublin City University, and has co-authored over 35 peer reviewed publications.
