Dr. Fernando Rodríguez is the Chief Technology Officer at Lacuna Space, where he leads the technical strategy and scaling of the company’s satellite constellation. With over 25 years of cross-disciplinary expertise in the aerospace, electronics, communications, and IT sectors, Dr. Rodríguez has a solid track record in the design and delivery of mission-critical space assets and solutions. Prior to joining Lacuna, he served as Director of Electrical Engineering at Mangata Networks and held several key leadership roles at AAC Clyde Space, including Director of Engineering and Chief Engineer. His leadership was instrumental in the technical execution of products and platforms that have since empowered more than 50 successful satellite missions. Bridging the gap between industrial scaling and advanced research, Dr. Rodríguez holds a Ph.D. in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and spent over a decade as a Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Glasgow. A specialist in embedded systems, communication networks, and satellite R/F systems, he has authored over 30 refereed papers covering a diverse set of topics, from on-chip communications to planetary exploration using self-organising “smart dust” sensors. His unique combination of academic rigor and “NewSpace” leadership makes him a leading voice on the technical and regulatory evolution of satellite constellations, particularly in the emerging landscape of NTN and D2D connectivity.
