Gregg Burgess is President and General Manager of Orion Space Solutions, and Arcfield Company in Louisville Colorado USA. Orion Space Solutions designs, builds and operates small satellites and payloads for Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO), LEO, and Geosynchronous Orbit (GEO). Orion’s technology portfolio spans ionospheric sensing and modelling, high frequency RADAR and radios, Electro-optical and Infrared sensors for terrestrial and space applications, and spacecraft power and digital electronics. Mr Burgess has led high growth space businesses at General Atomics and Orbital Sciences Corporation, developing foundational space systems including the Geosynchronous Space Situational Awareness System (GSSAP), ANGELS, EAGLE, MiTEx, Commercially Hosted Infrared Payload (CHIRP), Gazelle, and the EO/IR Weather System (EWS). The organizations he led designed and delivered space payloads for advanced RF communications, laser communications, space situational awareness, rendezvous and proximity operations, and missile warning. He also served as Chief Technology Officer at Sierra Nevada Corporation’s Space business which during his tenure developed the Surface Mount Technology solar panels, advance rocket propulsion systems, and the Dream Chaser spaceplane. Mr Burgess earned an MS and BS in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a graduate of the General Manager’s Program at Harvard Business School and is an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
