An aerospace engineer, he graduated from the Polytechnic University of Milan and specialized at the University of Kansas with a Master’s and PhD in Aerospace Engineering, and a Master’s in Engineering Management. He began his career in 1998 at Carlo Gavazzi Space (now OHB Italia), a leading European system integrator based in Milan, Italy, before moving to the United States, first for university studies (from 2000 to 2005) and then continuing at Swales Aerospace (now Northrop Grumman). In 2007, he joined SpaceX, Elon Musk’s aerospace company, as Mission Director for Dragon, the first commercial spacecraft for orbital flights of goods and people. In 2013, he became a partner in Tyvak Nano-Satellite Systems Inc., based in Irvine, California, and in 2015, he founded Tyvak International in Turin. Recognized as one of the world leaders in the commercial and military small-satellite sector, the company went public (NYSE) in 2021 under the name Terran Orbital, and was sold to Lockheed Martin in 2024. While maintaining his activity as a private investor, since 2024, Marco provides consulting and advisory services, holds multiple board positions, collaborates closely with Trive Capital, an American private equity firm based in Dallas, and serves as the CEO of Canopy A&D, a company specializing in advanced materials for the naval and aerospace sectors.
