Regina Peldszus, Ph.D., is a Space Security Specialist with the European External Action Service (EEAS), Security & Defence Policy Directorate. Her focus is on space threats and Space Domain Awareness. Prior to joining the EU, Regina was part of the German administration, and advised the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs on space security, Space Situational Awareness and related interagency mechanisms and likeminded wargaming. Until 2020, at the German Space Agency at DLR, she served as Co-Chair of EU Space Surveillance & Tracking (EU SST), and oversaw horizon-scanning studies at the intersection of global sensor architectures and geopolitics. She holds a PhD from Kingston University, London, with a focus on foresight and simulation for future missions, and was a researcher at the European Space Agency, including in future systems and mission control. Regina’s publications have explored foresight, resilience, and space infrastructure. She lectures occasionally, including at the European Security & Defence College. She is a senior member of the AIAA, and in 2024 served as invited expert at the German Parliament’s Defence Committee public hearing on the Space Strategy.
